Penafiel is 10 km from the Termas de São Vicente. There, the Sameiro sanctuary in Neo-Gothic-Byzantine style is worth visiting; the churches of Misericórdia and Ajuda, from the 18th century; the Benedictine convent of Bustelo, medieval; Quinta da Aveleda, famous for its wines, gardens and monumentality, from the 17th century, the Municipal Museum, etc.
Of the several castros in the municipality of Penafiel, Citânia do Monte Mozinho (Cidade Morta) stands out. Located in Oldrões and Galegos, it is the largest Castro Romano in the Iberian Peninsula.
